Description

Stretching north from Bordeaux up along the Western side of the Gironde estuary, the Medoc region contains some of the most celebrated names in the wine world, including Pauillac and Margaux amongst numerous others. While not from one of these revered Appellations, Chateau Le Pey is located just north of St Estephe, and gives a superb introduction to the style and terroir of the area. Made from a combination of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot, the wine is aged in oak barrels for 12 months, of which 25% were new oak barrels giving a particularly rich, spicy character.

Chateau Le Pey is the oldest property belonging to the Compagnet family, who make excellent value wines from their 49 hectares of vineyards, taking 100% control over the production on site. This wine is full of ripe fruit flavours such as blackcurrants, black cherries and blackberries together with secondary flavours of cedar, cigar and leather. This is a classic, smooth, light to midweight Bordeaux that will be a great match with roasted meats. It will also go well with tomato sauces and rich bean and pulse dishes. Enjoy between now and Spring 2023. 13.5% ABV.
