Description

This wine is a 2nd Cru Classé and second label of Chateau Doisy-Vedrines who have a strong reputation in the region. It is, however, little known by wine lovers due to its small volumes and lucky for us it offers great value for money. The estate is owned by the Casteja family who also have houses in the Right Bank of Bordeaux as well as a large négociant named Borie-Manoux. This wine is made with key Sauternes grapes Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc that have been affected by botrytis cinerea – the all important rot that helps produce some of the best sweet wines in the world.

This is an excellent way to be introduced to the wonder of Sauternes. The wine is full bodied with lashings of honey, aromatic mango and apricot interlaced with candied citrus fruits.  So food friendly, this wine would match well with pâte, a huge variety of desserts, blue-veined cheeses or even spicy Asian cuisine. 13% ABV.
