Description

This Chateauneuf is deep red in colour and has aromas of black cherry and fruit compote from the Grenache as well as spice and pepper notes from the Syrah. In the mouth, the wine is full-bodied as is typical for Chateauneuf-du-Pape, there is plenty of ripe and cooked black and red fruits, and the tannins are silky in texture with a lovely long finish, and slight warmth from 15.5% alcohol. This bold and powerful wine matches with a variety of meat stews or bbqs, but specifically, try with either lamb shanks or chargrilled beef ribs with a fruity and smoky barbecue sauce. Drink now or keep up to 6 years in half bottle.

Domaine du Grand Tinel was founded in 1972 by two families, the Jeunes and Establets. The estate is now managed by their children Christophe, Beatrice, and Isabelle. They have 74 hectares (c. 180 acres) of vineyards and make both red and white Rhone wines. 95% of the wines are red, typical of this area. The estate is certified ‘HVE’ (Haute Valeur Environmental), a sustainable certification focusing on biodiversity in the vineyard and careful use of water and fertilizers.
