Etienne Julien now runs this Burgundian domaine, the 5th generation to do so. He makes straightforward, unflashy, delicious red Burgundy that is great to drink almost immediately on release onto the market. This is his Cote de Nuits Villages, not the most glamorous of vineyards or appellations in this part of Burgundy, but easily the best in price compared to lofty Vosne Romanee or Gevrey-Chambertin, for example. Plenty of typical red fruit character of the Pinot Noir grape variety, and an earthier note too that speaks of the land it’s from. 13% ABV.
