Description

This is a white wine from the ‘Les Clos’ vineyard in Chablis, one of seven vineyards which has achieved Grand Cru status in the region. Les Clos is the largest and most well-known of the Chablis Grand Crus; it was also one of the first recognised vineyards here. Made entirely from Chardonnay, the wine has a complex bouquet of green fruits, floral tones and substantial minerality; notes of wet chalk and citrus zest dominate. Powerful and generous with superb depth and density of flavour, these wines are well renowned for their ageing potential.

The vines which grow the fruit for this wine were planted between 1947 and 1952 by Maurice Fevre, William’s (who the Domaine is named after) father. William himself retired in 1998 and sold the business to Champagne Henriot. Acclaimed winemaker, Didier Seguier is now at the helm; he emphasises the natural character of the area and grape through moderate oak influence (less ageing time in oak barrels and no new oak barrels which would influence the wine too much, in their opinion). Demonstrating Chablis at its peak and from a world class producer, we certainly believe this offers excellent value for money. This is an ideal partner for grilled fish and chicken incorporating a creamy sauce. 13.5% ABV.
