Description

This Pinot Noir sourced from the Yarrum vineyard is a deep red colour in the glass, with an expressive nose of ripe red fruits like cherry, strawberries and plum, and notes of spiced toasted walnuts. The palate continues with plenty of rich ripe fruits like black cherry, raspberry, and red plums, with smooth tannins and a hint of spice from the French oak to round the finish. Match this wine alongside slow-cooked duck confit with fresh cabbage and root vegetable slaw or a decadent chocolate cake with cherries. 13.5% ABV

Greywacke is the name of the wine but also the vineyard at Rapaura, Marlborough, that Kevin Judd owns. Kevin purchases grapes from other growers too, around the Southern Valleys of Marlborough and the central Wairau Plains, particularly in Woodbourne, Renwick and other Rapaura vineyards. The Marlborough region accounts for 2/3s of all New Zealand wine, with most grapes being Sauvignon Blanc, either from the fertile Wairau area or the sloping vineyards of the Southern Valleys nearby, plus some delicious Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris among other grapes.
