This is a white wine from the Maconnais region in Burgundy, made entirely from Chardonnay. Often confused with the other PF (Pouilly Fume – made from Sauvignon Blanc in the Loire) Pouilly and Fuisse are two separate villages whose vineyards provide the grapes for wines carrying the Pouilly Fuisse title. A seductive and excellent expression of the Chardonnay grape with an attractive golden hue, this wine has vibrant fruit character of green apple and pear alongside refreshing citrus notes of lemon. A creamy mouthfeel with savoury notes of almond and sweet spice including caramel and vanilla lead to an elegant and lingering finish.
Joseph Drouhin, a Chablis native, arrived in Beaune at the heart of Burgundy in 1880 and founded the winery and negotiant business which is now in the hands of his four great grandchildren – Philippe, Veronique, Laurent and Frederic. This is an ideal partner for cream based dishes and meaty fish such as Halibut. 13.5% ABV.
