A complex, juicy bold red from Wilyabrup, a sub-region of Margaret River in Western Australia. It is made from a blend of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with Malbec and Petit Verdot. Full of dark fruit aromas of mulberries and blackcurrants, with spicy white pepper notes from the Malbec. The palate continues with dark, juicy blackcurrant and redcurrant with ripe, structured tannins and fresh acidity. It is a full-bodied wine, and will go well with steaks, or a venison dish, as well as a rich, tomato-based pasta sauce. 13.5% ABV. Drink now or keep till 2024
Moss Wood vineyards were planted in 1969; it was one of the founding estates of the now well-known Margaret River wine region in Western Australia. It’s owned and run by Clare and Keith Mugford (they are also the winemakers and viticulturists) who are dedicated to growing grapes of excellent quality to produce fine wines. Wilyabrup is in an isolated position, around a 3 hour drive south of Perth and sitting next to the vast Indian Ocean, meaning it has a maritime climate that traditionally Bordeaux varieties have grown well in. Moss Wood make the Amy’s Blend to have early drinking appeal, with lovely balanced fruit and gentle tannic structure, so it can be enjoyed straightaway rather than cellaring as some Bordeaux Blends require.
