Description
Ridge Vineyards based in the Santa Cruz mountains (South of San Fransisco) was established in 1962. Paul Draper took up the role of winemaker in 1969 and is still involved in making wines at the winery to this day. Ridge, like other California estates received almost instant praise in the world of wine after California performed so well in the 1976 Judgement of Paris tasting – beating some of France’s most revered wines. From Dry Creek Valley this is a delicious blend of 73% Zinfandel, 16% Petite Sirah, 9% Carignan and 2% Mataro. It’s an elegant, fragrant wine with plenty of cherry and blackberry, a hint of vanilla and spice too. For a Californian wine it is fairly light in body but long on flavour, with firm tannins that will ensure the wine ages for years to come. We would recommend decanting it for a few hours before enjoying. 14.5% ABV.
