Louis Roederer is a Champagne house who have been making great Champagne since 1776 and are based in Reims. The business is still family owned; Frederic Rouzaud currently manages it with Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon making the wines. This is a blend of 65% Pinot Noir and 35% Chardonnay; two of the three permitted grape varieties in Champagne. The Rose Vintage cuvee is generally matured on lees for 4 years which results in an elegant and exquisitely fruity nose and palate. Notes of wild berries, florals and zesty spice overlay a backdrop of cocoa and toasty richness followed by an ethereal finish which persists.
Champagne is a cool-climate region lying north east of Paris and is the largest producer of fine sparkling wines in the world, making 300 million bottles a year, of which a tenth is exported to the UK. Louis Roederer is a medium to large sized producer, farming biodynamically where possible. The wine comes attractively presented and makes for a superb gift and a delicious, fresh, rounded sparkling wine at any time at all. Never disappoints and pairs excellently with Fish and Chips! 12% ABV.
