Description
Louis Roederer is a Champagne house who have been making great Champagne since 1776 and are based in Reims. The business is still family owned; Frederic Rouzaud currently manages it with Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon making the wines.
With the creation of Collection, Louis Roederer is writing a new chapter in the story of their popular Brut Premier Champagne. It is described as a ‘multi-vintage’ wine, due to its blend of many different vintages or harvests. The reference to 244 is the number of Champagne blends they have made since their foundation in 1776. It’s 41% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot noir and 26% Meunier.
Champagne is a cool-climate region lying north east of Paris and is the largest producer of fine sparkling wines in the world, making 300 million bottles a year, of which roughly a tenth is exported to the UK. Louis Roederer is a medium to large sized producer, farming biodynamically where possible. The wine comes attractively presented and makes for a superb gift and a delicious, fresh, rounded sparkling wine at any time at all. Never disappoints and (also pairs excellently with Fish and Chips!) 12.5% ABV.
