Schloss Gobelsburg Heiligenstein Riesling 2017 HALF (37.5cl)

£25.50

White, Kamptal, Austria

Description

This is a great example of a drier style Riesling from the famous Kamptal region. It shows with plenty of citrus across both the nose and palate, while maintaining balance with ripe peach, honeysuckle, and apricot, rounding off with the unique Austrian minerality that so many of these great wines have.

The site of Schloss Gobelsburg in the Kamptal region of Austria has been witness to winemaking since 1171 (currently celebrating their 850 year landmark!) The Castle was managed by the monks of Zwettl monastery until as recently as 1995 at which point it was purchased by its present owners, the Moosbrugger family. They make several different wonderful white wines, blended from different vineyards but also from ‘Ried’ or individual/single vineyards such as this Lamm (Ried Lamm also qualifies as an Erste Lage, the equivalent of the French Grand Cru). 13.5% ABV.
