From one of Sancerre and the Loire Valley region’s most dedicated and renowned producers, this is a classic Sancerre full of intense aromatic fruit. Vincent Pinard is found in the village of Bué where its limestone soils make it the perfect place to produce top class Loire Sauvignon Blanc. The 15 hectare domaine prides itself on natural winemaking practices, extremely low yields, meticulous site-specific selection and a modern winemaking set up. This white is packed full of ripe, juicy gooseberry and citrus fruit with nuances of chalk and mineral character from the limestone chalky terroir (soil).
The family estate is now run by Vincent’s children, Florent and Clement. The Pinards’ domaine in Bué is home to some of the most prized plots in the entire region. Bué is a small village within the appellation of Sancerre, which together with Pouilly Fume and a few other vineyard appellations sit at the Eastern end of the Loire Valley but are confusingly known as the Central Vineyards or the Centre, due to being in the centre of France. Pinard takes an organic approach; they are determined to respect the land and the environment so rule out the use of herbicide or insecticide in the vineyard. So aromatic and expressive, this is a knock -out Sauvignon with beautiful weight and expression. One to savour on its own or accompanied with grilled fish dishes or Loire goats cheese. 13% ABV.
