Description
The 55th vintage of the Geyserville, this wine is produced from the vineyards in the Alexander Valley, which has plenty of stone and gravel deposits from ancient washouts of the Russian River. The vineyard did see some drought through the summer but of the three Zinfandel estates, Geyserville coped the best giving the exquisite fruit balance with acidity. A blend of 69% Zinfandel, 20% Carignane, 8% Petit Sirah, 2% Alicante Bouschet, and 1% Mataro. The wine offers plenty of fruit on the palate with lots of texture with strawberry, cherry, and a hint of cocoa, which lingers in a long-lasting finish. This wine will continue to develop over the next 10 years. 14% ABV
Ridge Vineyards based in the Santa Cruz mountains (South of San Francisco) was established in 1962. Paul Draper took up the role of winemaker in 1969 and is still making wines at the winery to this day. Ridge, like other California estates, received almost instant praise in the world of wine after California performed so well in the 1976 Judgement of Paris tasting – beating some of France’s most revered wines.
