Description

Made solely from the Pinot Noir grape, this Australian red bursts with fresh and dried red berry fruits. It’s juicy but elegant and a great introduction to really good Aussie Pinot. Produced by Yabby Lake, in Tuerong, just outside of Melbourne on Mornington Peninsula, it is a crowd-pleasing, versatile fine wine, and tends to make most people happy!

TASTING NOTE: A light to medium red in colour. On the nose: fragrant aromas of cherry and red fruits, orange peel, mixed herbs plus a tiny touch of spice from some ageing in large French oak vats. On the palate: the long, silky palate is fruity, elegant and fresh, with a plush texture and a fine, juicy finish. It’s medium in body, not heavy, and 13.5% alcohol.

FOOD PAIRING, STORAGE AND SERVICE: With its fruity aromas this wine pairs beautifully with duck and plum sauce. It’s not too rich and doesn’t tend to overpower food. It’s really good with roast pork or chicken, where the natural freshness helps cut through the fat in the meat. Vegetarian dishes that work well are  mushroom risotto or butternut squash dishes. Serve at room temperature or slightly chilled. Drink now until 2028.

ABOUT: Founded in the mid-1990s by Mem and Robert Kirby, Yabby Lake is located in the north of the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, Australia. Today the vineyards are overseen by Viticulturist, Thomas Schulz who meticulously manages the vineyards, with hand pruning and handpicking taking place each season. Hugely respected Chief Winemaker and General Manager Tom Carson makes the Red Claw range from Yabby Lake’s own vineyards; the grapes are hand-harvested and hand-crafted in the cellar, making delicious fine wines.
