Description

An delicious, impressive and relatively full-bodied Rose. It’s really one of our favourite wines from Provence and will please most people, from those trying southern French Roses for the first time to a fine wine connoisseur. It’s a great aperitif, drunk nicely chilled, but will also accompany an array of mezze or a smart dinner, and can easily hold its own against most meat, fish, or full-flavoured vegetarian dishes. In short, it’s an extremely versatile Rose and good to have on hand anytime!

The appellation of Bandol is in Provence but the Rose wines here are very different wine style from a Cotes de Provence such as Miraval, and are known for their considerable ageing capacity, as well as the amount of the Mourvedre grape variety that is used in the blend. Bandol is situated in eastern Provence, and this estate was created by sommelier Georges Delille, who purchased the land in 1963. Mourvedre makes up 50% of this classic Bandol Rosé (along with 25% Grenache and Cinsault). It gives a particularly herby, complex Rose with lime, pomegranate and currant notes in youth and menthol, and spice with earthier notes in age. Drink now till 2029. 13.5% alcohol.
