Description
Made from 100% Pinot Noir by renowned wine producer Joseph Drouhin. The grapes come from the area of Volnay, south of the town of Beaune, in Burgundy. This area was said to be a favourite with the ladies from the court of the Duke of Burgundy due to the purity of the air but we think it could well also have been due to the quality of the wine from the area! The 2024 vintage is very classic in style, not too heavy, but full of perfume and flavour. Elegant and fine in texture.
TASTING NOTE: Attractive ruby red colour with purple hints. On the nose: It has fresh, perfumed notes of cherry, red berries and rose petals, with some blackcurrant too. On the palate: it is light to medium-bodied but has masses of red fruit flavour, fresh acidity and a very fine, long, elegant finish. It’s a lovely midweight, delicious Burgundy, not too heavy, with lots of character and finesse. 13.5% alcohol.
FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: This is an extremely food-friendly wine and will pair with many Burgundian classics including snails, Beef Bourguignon, or a local cheese such as Epoisses. Enjoy now or keep until 2031 to develop further.
ABOUT: Joseph Drouhin, a Chablis native, arrived in Beaune, the heart of Burgundy in 1880 and founded the winery and negociant business which is now in the hands of his four great-grandchildren: Philippe, Veronique, Laurent, and Frederic each play a different role in helping to grow the family wine companies in Burgundy and USA. With almost 200 acres of vines in Burgundy, they organically farm their own vineyards and purchase grapes from leading growers in the Burgundy region.
