Description
This much celebrated Gruner Veltliner from the renowned Brundlmayer estate in Austria is crafted from a blend of a number of different vineyards all bringing their unique character to this wine. The vineyards at higher altitude consist of stonier soil and highlight the aromatic and elegant qualities of this grape, while at a lower altitude the grapes provide more body and ripeness. The result is a complex but well-rounded and approachable wine with notes of elderflower, citrus fruit and a nutty quality which elevates the long lasting finish.
This wine was made by Willi Brundlmayer alongside his wife, Edwige and the team at their winery based in Langenlois which is found in the Kamptal region overlooking the Danube River. Willi inherited the winery from his parents in the 1970’s and has since taken it on to become one of the leading names in Austrian winemaking. He is a key proponent of sustainable winemaking, and the estate is certified Organic. Indeed, the winery has been created in a way which means that no pumping is required, gravity is used to transfer the wine between vats and barrels throughout, saving on energy while also working to ensure there is minimum interference to the grapes. We would particularly recommend this alongside a variety of starters including smoked trout, ham, tapas and goat’s cheese. 12.5% ABV.
