Description
Chateau de Beaucastel has long been regarded as one of the greatest wines in France, and this 2015 is no exception…. From Chateauneuf-du-Pape, the 2015 red is a blend of 30% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre, 15% Vaccarèse, Terret Noir, Muscardin, Clairette, Picpoul, Picardan, Bourboulenc, Roussanne 10% Counoise, 10% Syrah, and 5% Cinsault. This wine shows elegance, with a full body of dark red fruits from the Grenache, liquorice, baking spices, and a subtle smoky character from the Syrah. This wine will benefit from decanting or aging until 2030. This wine will pair wonderfully with a grilled Cote De Boeuf, or sauteed wild mushrooms and asparagus. 14.5%ABV
Chateau Beaucastel has an exceptional terroir to the North of Châteauneuf du Pape, exposed to the Mistral wind. All thirteen varieties of the appellation have been organically grown since the sixties. It’s also one of the oldest estates in the appellation dating all the way back to 1549. Pierre de Beaucastel purchased the original parcel of vineyard land for the family in the Coudoulet appellation of Southern Rhone. Beaucastel was then acquired by Pierre Tramier in 1909. The estate was passed down several generations, to the Perrin family who own and manage the estate today, and continue the tradition of Beaucastel, with its notorious style, balance, and great ageing potential.
