Description

This wine is intensely powerful and has a complex character which we thoroughly enjoy from a Grand Cru Classe Saint-Émilion estate.

TASTING NOTE: A deep ruby colour. On the nose: spiced blackcurrant and black cherry with notes of leather, dried tobacco and herbs, alongside pencil lead, crushed stone. On the palate: medium to full-bodied, with a rounded, layered mouthfeel and a creamy, silky texture. Ripe and fresh blue and black fruits, fine acidity providing elegance through a long finish. 14.5% alcohol.

FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVING: We recommend duck confit served with potatoes or salad, a popular southwest specialty with a glass of La Tour Figeac make for a generous pairing.  It also pairs well with sauteed porcini mushrooms, or Gouda cheese. Great ageing potential, drink now or keep until 2035.

ABOUT: Château La Tour Figeac sits on the boundary with Pomerol within the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé appellation, on Bordeaux’s Right Bank. Originally part of the neighbouring Château Figeac before the two estates separated in 1879, it now farms nearly 15 hectares of gravelly, sandy soils over deep clay using organic and biodynamic methods followed for almost 20 years. This Merlot dominant blend is vinified in small batches and gentle punch-down extraction to preserve elegant tannins, before ageing around 15 months in foudres and wooden vats.
