Description
From the Graves region of Bordeaux (Graves lies just southeast of Bordeaux city, and is an easy day visit), this red wine is good value given its quality, and a great example of red Bordeaux that has been aged in oak. Made from a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, it’s slightly richer in style than some of our other Bordeaux – if you like the mellow spice of Rioja with a hint of vanilla, for example, this is a good wine to try.
TASTING NOTE: This Bordeaux is a vibrant ruby colour in the glass with a vibrant nose of cherry, raspberry and a lingering spice note of clove and cinnamon. A medium body and medium acidity with more intense berry, and plum notes, plus a touch of vanilla and a toasted spice finish from ageing in French oak barrels. 13.5% ABV.
FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: this wine is a perfect match with red meats either braised or off the grill. Traditionally dishes such as roast leg of lamb with garlic and rosemary. This wine will also pair very well with grilled beef, and fattier pork dishes, such as a fatty bone-in chop or shawarma spiced grilled vegetables.
Decant prior to serving to help release the fruit aromas of the wine. This wine is best enjoyed at temperature of 17- 18 degrees and will drink well will the end of 2024
ABOUT: Chateau Les Gravieres belongs to Thierry and Denis Labuzan; both the name Gravieres and the region Graves refer to the particularly gravelly soil here, close to the Garonne river.
