Description
Chateau Les Ormes de Pez is based in the Saint-Estephe village of the Medoc, on the left-bank part of the Bordeaux wine region. It’s owned by the Cazes family who also own Chateau Lynch-Bages in Pauillac, down the road. The name literally means ‘elm trees of peace’ referring both to the ancient elm trees that used to grow here, and the local dialect for ‘peace’, ie pez. Ormes de Pez was bought by the Cazes family in 1940.
It’s undeniably a great wine from a very good vintage, but without the price tag of the greats!
