Description

This right bank Bordeaux is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Malbec. It’s deep purple and rich in the glass, with a nose of dark berries, such as blackberry, black cherry and blackcurrants. A slight note of leather, tobacco and clove from barrel ageing in French oak also lingers towards the end. The palate is full of more ripe fruit flavours, and soft toasted spices such as cinnamon, and nutmeg, followed by a solid, medium to full body, silky tannins and a long finish. Enjoy now or cellar until 2026. Decant for 30 minutes to an hour. 14% ABV. Try this with a delicious duck confit, or with grilled wild mushrooms.

Chateau Tour de Capet is in Saint-Emilion, near the small town of Saint-Hippolyte. The Chateau is next to the sister estate of Chateau Capet-Guillier. While both vineyards have existed since the 14th Century, since 2009 they’ve been run by Antoine Moueix Proprietes, who have much experience in Bordeaux’s Right Bank after founder Antoine Moueix started his business in 1902 (it’s now part of the French group Advini). The wines are made by Christophe Grenier and wine consultant Stephane Derenoncourt.
