Description
Croix Canon is Chateau Canon’s second wine from the Bordeaux vineyards of Saint-Emilion. It’s a blend of the Merlot grape variety (76%) and Cabernet Franc (24%).
TASTING NOTE: The merlot grapes provide plum, cassis and herb fruit character with a small amount of Cabernet Franc adds fine tannic structure on the palate. The wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, including a small proportion of new barrels which has given a slight hint of spice, coconut and cedar. This is still a young wine with lots of primary fruit character and firm tannins.
FOOD PAIRING, SERVICE AND STORING: Decant this or aerate it before serving for a couple of hours to allow the wine to mellow. Best pairings would be classic meat dishes such as roast pork, beef or lamb. 14.5% ABV.
ABOUT: The Chateau takes its name from Jacques Kanon (who apparently made his fortune as a pirate!) and who initially bought the estate in 1760. The estate was later bought by renowned fashion house Chanel who also own Château Rauzan-Ségla in Margaux.
