Description
While not as fancy as Sancerre or Pouilly fume, the appellation of Touraine makes lovely crisp, refreshing Sauvignon Blancs like this. It’s a brilliant food pairing wine too!
TASTING NOTE: A light yellow colour with flecks of green. On the nose: it is fresh and aromatic, as expected of Loire Valley wines made from Sauvignons Blanc, with elderflower, gooseberry, nettle and herb characters, plus some lovely citrus notes too, and passionfruit. On the palate: it’s light to medium-bodied with the naturally refreshing acidity of Sauvignon Blanc, and lots of herbaceous and citrus fruit flavours. At 12.5% it’s very easy to drink, and is not too rich. While not in the same league as Sancerre or Pouilly-Fume, also from the Loire, it’s juicy, dry, crisp and refreshing, and a great food wine
FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: Christophe Godet suggests serving the wine cool at 8 degrees, with pork (eg Andouille sausages from Brittany, to the north), fish (salmon and cod are usual matches) and seafood dishes, or goat’s cheese for a vegetarian option. Sauvignon Blanc is fairly versatile and so asparagus, avocados, artichokes, salads or green veg all complement the herbaceous and citrus quality of Sauvignon Blanc. As well as tomato and herb dishes. Serve cold at 8 degrees, no need to decant. Drink now till Summer 2025

The winery offers a wide range of wines among the following appellations: Touraine, Touraine Oisly, Crémant de Loire. 80% of the domaine is planted to Sauvignon Blanc, this famous grape of the Loire Valley, and 20% is planted with Gamay, Cabernet and Cot (aka Malbec) grapes, of which are red grapes and are used for red and rose wines from Touraine
