Description

This is a classic Chateauneuf-du-Pape, by Domaine Grand Tinel from the Rhone Valley. Made from 80% Grenache, 20% Syrah. it’s full of fruit flavour. It’s a versatile wine that’s a great food match, especially with grilled food.

TASTING NOTE: Deep vibrant almost purple in the glass. On the nose: Black cherry and fruit compote from the Grenache as well as spice and pepper notes from the Syrah. On the palate: This is full-bodied with plenty of ripe and cooked black and red fruits, which are carried by the silky tannins. It has a good length, and long finish as it leaves a slight cinnamon warmth. 15.5% alcohol by volume.

FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: This bold and powerful wine matches with Osso Buco, over creamy polenta or a char-grilled rack of beef ribs with a fruity and smoky barbecue sauce. Due to the high alcohol content of this style of wine avoid dishes with heat and stick with warm spices when cooking. Decant or open 15 minutes before serving. Drink now or keep up to 6 years.

ABOUT: Domaine du Grand Tinel was founded in 1972 by two families, the Jeunes and Establets. The estate is now managed by their children Christophe, Beatrice, and Isabelle. They have 74 hectares (c. 180 acres) of vineyards and make both red and white Rhone wines. 95% of the wines are red, typical of this area. The estate is certified ‘HVE’ (Haute Valeur Environmental), a sustainable certification focusing on biodiversity in the vineyard and careful use of water and fertilizers.
