Description
A delicious Bordeaux blend of 82% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Sauvignon with 2% Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. The 2018 growing season was almost perfect for Merlot grapes in the Napa Valley, giving this wine plenty of cherry, raspberry, and strawberry aromas, followed by a hint of leather. The nose is followed by powerful, intense ripe fruit and plush acidity on the palate, along with silky tannins and a long, lingering cinnamon and clove-spiced finish from the 15 months spent in French oaks barrels. This wine is great to enjoy now and a great wine for the table with grilled red meats or hearty sauteed mushrooms. It will benefit from a nice decant, and will keep for 5-6 years easily if you can wait! 14.5% ABV.
Duckhorn was founded by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn in 1976 after the two took a trip to Bordeaux, where they fell in love with the region and the Merlot grape. Upon returning home the two purchased 10 acres of vineyards in Napa Valley with the goal of becoming one of North America’s top producers of Bordeaux grape varieties. As one of the pioneers of Napa Valley Merlot, Duckhorn is known for crafting some of the plushest and most balanced Merlots, from high-quality grapes grown in 9 different Napa Valley Vineyards for almost 50 years. see more at duckhorn.com
