ABOUT: Herdade de Esporao (or Esporao for short) is the name of the estate where Monte Velho is made. The vineyards are in the heart of Reguengos de Monsaraz, in the Alentejo region of Portugal. Esporao has been owned by the Roquette family since 1973 but the history of the estate goes back 700 years as its boundaries were first established in 1267. Today Esporao is one of the leading wineries in Portugal and they have over 400 hectares of vineyards, most of which are farmed organically.
