This red blend made from Touriga Nacional, Aragonez, Trincadeira, and Syrah comes from the Alentejo region of Portugal. It has a deep rich red colour with aromas of black fruits, wild herbs, and mint, plus subtle notes of fresh spices from time in barrel. It’s intense and rich on the palate, with moderate acidity and a full body. There is a solid tannin structure to support the fruit, but the texture is still smooth. The wine has a long finish with plenty of dark, ripe fruits and more spice, making it a perfect match for anything coming off the grill. 13.5%ABV
Herdade de Esporao (or Esporao for short) is the name of the estate where Monte Velho is made. The vineyards are in the heart of Reguengos de Monsaraz, in the Alentejo region of Portugal. Esporao has been owned by the Roquette family since 1973 but the history of the estate goes back 700 years as its boundaries were first established in 1267. Today Esporao is one of the leading wineries in Portugal and they have over 400 hectares of vineyards, most of which are farmed organically.
