Description

A benchmark for Marlborough, New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs, From producer Isabel Estates, this wine is bursting with zesty tropical fruit and herbaceous quality which is a perfect pairing for anything seafood!

TASTING NOTE: Pretty yellow straw colour with soft green reflections. On the nose: Fresh and fruity with notes of zesty lemon peel, grapefruit, gooseberry, and pineapple, with a hint of that typical herb quality (think thyme, and a tiny touch of mint). On the palate: Crisp and refreshing with a medium to full body followed by plenty more flavours of tropical fruits, and lemon zest, with subtle salinity and an impressively long, tangy mineral finish. 13% alcohol by volume.

FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: This zesty, aromatic wine would be perfect for most salads or tomato dishes, or asparagus when in season, or pea risotto. Isabel Estate suggests this wine goes extremely well alongside whole barbecued fish or freshly steamed mussels. This wine is best enjoyed now but can be held until spring 2025.

ABOUT: Mike and Robyn Tiller established this estate in Marlborough in the 1980s, naming it after Mike’s mother Isabel. Their mission was to create premium wines from classic grape varieties. In 2001 Mike was convinced to retire from his career as a pilot to focus on the estate and create the state-of-the-art winery that is used today. Isabel Estate (now owned by Australian drinks company Pinnacle) is one of the country’s top producers and one of the few that makes and bottles wines from grapes only produced within the estate.
