Description
In our humble opinion, Rully offers some of the best value wines to be found within Burgundy. From one of the top Burgundy producers, Joseph Drouhin. This 100% Pinot Noir is exclusively from Rully and is a treat, with plenty of fruit notes and a classic regional minerality and soft spice note on the finish.
TASTING NOTE: Beautiful ruby red colour. On the nose: Plenty of redberry fruits such as raspberry and cherry with toasted walnuts from the oak barrels. On the palate: It’s light to medium in body with crisp acidity that keeps the wine fresh and juicy, there are raspberry and red currant flavours, supported by medium tannins. The finish is accompanied by mixed dried herbs, chocolate and some earthy notes. 13.5% alcohol.
FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: With crisp acidity and plenty of expressive red fruits, this wine is a great match for poultry dishes either roasted or in a sauce. We would suggest a crisp Parma ham and sage-wrapped veal escalope, or mushroom bruschetta with shaved endive and balsamic drizzle. It’s great now and you can keep until Spring 2027.
ABOUT: Joseph Drouhin, a Chablis native, arrived in Beaune, the heart of Burgundy in 1880 and founded the winery and negociant business which is now in the hands of his four great-grandchildren – Philippe, Veronique, Laurent and Frederic who each play a different role in helping to grow the family wine companies in Burgundy and USA. With almost 200 acres of vines in Burgundy, they organically farm their own vineyards and purchase grapes from leading growers in the Burgundy region.
