Description
Made from 100% Pinot Noir and producer Joseph Drouhin. The grapes come from the area of Volnay, south of the town of Beaune, in Burgundy. This area was said to be a favourite with the ladies from the court of the Duke of Burgundy due to the purity of the air but we think it could well also have been due to the quality of the wine from the area!
TASTING NOTE: Bright ruby colour. On the nose: Vibrant with fruity and floral notes of violet and blackcurrants, black cherry, and blackberry. On the palate: Medium bodied with candied fruits, medium acidity and some savoury notes including mushroom and a little vanilla spice, with a pleasant and long-lasting finish, 13.5% alcohol by volume.
FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: This is an extremely food-friendly wine and will pair with many Burgundian classics including snails, Beef Bourguignon, or a local cheese such as Epoisses. Enjoy now or keep until 2025 to develop further.
ABOUT: Joseph Drouhin, a Chablis native, arrived in Beaune, the heart of Burgundy in 1880 and founded the winery and negotiant business which is now in the hands of his four great-grandchildren – Philippe, Veronique, Laurent, and Frederic each play a different role in helping to grow the family wine companies in Burgundy and USA. With almost 200 acres of vines in Burgundy, they organically farm their own vineyards and purchase grapes from leading growers in the Burgundy region.
