Description
Made from Nebbiolo grapes grown in the La Morra commune, in Italy’s Piedmont wine region, this wine is highly versatile and can be enjoyed throughout the entire meal. Langhe Nebbiolo wines are often nicknamed ‘baby Barolo’ as they are from the same/nearby vineyards as Barolo, but are released slightly younger and softer in tannins, without the need for long ageing. This is fresh, fine in texture and has lovely berry fruit aromas. It really is fantastic value for money given the quality!
TASTING NOTE: A lovely brick-red colour in the glass. On the nose: vibrant fruit aromas emerge, including notes of violet, raspberry and wild strawberry, plus a touch of orange zest, lending the wine a lovely freshness. On the palate: it is elegant and harmonious, and medium-bodied, with rich, supple tannins that make it versatile and equally enjoyable on its own or paired with food. It’s not as austere as Barolo but has a juicy long finish, impressive depth of flavour and well-balanced 14% alcohol. Yum!
FOOD PAIRING, STORAGE AND SERVICE: This is a versatile wine with midweight, well-balanced tannins and plenty of red fruit flavour, without being heavy. It is therefore an excellent choice to accompany a full meal, as it will match but not overshadow the separate courses. Mushroom or red meat pastas, and white meats such as chicken or turkey pair especially well, whether its a showstopping roast dinner with all the trimmings or something more casual like a grilled chicken burger with a side salad. For a vegetarian option, grilled halloumi works beautifully. Serve at room temperature or slightly chilled at 17-18 degrees C. Drink now or cellar for 3-4 years.
