This is a delicate, fresh Gruner Veltliner with attractive yellow colour and flecks of green denoting a youthful style. On the nose, it has stone fruit aromas such as nectarine and white peach, followed by apple and pear with hints of delicate floral notes, and a hint of white pepper. The light to medium-bodied palate is filled with citrus flavours of grapefruit and lemon curd with crisp apples and refreshing acidity. It’s a dry wine but not quite bone dry, with a rounded, fruity finish, and it’s very easy to drink! 12% ABV.
With a family wine history dating back to 1770, the Weixelbaum family have been producing wines in one of the oldest wine-producing areas of Austria in the town of Straß (Strass). The wines from Weixelbaum are now crafted by the third generation of the family, Heinz Weixelbaum along with his wife Gabi. Heinz took over for his father Heinrich Weixelbaum in 1998. The Weixelbaum estate covers a total of 22ha with a focus on creating wines that reflect the region and styles the family enjoy drinking themselves (and us too!)
