Nyetimber Wines
Winning multiple different awards throughout 2013 and 2022, we will have a look at some of Nyetimber’s best products and what they have to offer.
The signature flagship of the Nyetimber brand is the Classic Cuvee, the premium and pioneering sparkling wine is made from 51% Chardonnay, 36% Pinot Noir and 13% Pinot Meunier and is one of the most highly rated sparkling wines. It has a bright light gold hue on the glass with very fine bubbles, it has a citrus fruit and red berry aroma with a brioche and pastry character on the nose. On the palate, it offers a medium body, with medium acidity and a rounded and rich feel that features a lot of freshness. The Classic Cuvee certainly is the flagship wine for Nyetimber.
Another strong product from Nyetimber is the Blanc de Blancs range, it was the first Nyetimber made and was a huge success when released in 1996. Made from only Chardonnay grapes and is aged between 5 to 6 years on fermentation lees. This results in a deliciously fresh, balanced wine with the classic Chardonnay lemony, elegant character and a richer flavour from the ageing. The 2014 Blanc de Blancs is more structured than the Classic Cuvee with a very elegant style, this sparkling wine is stunning and is drinking well now, yet it can age with ease for another 5-8 years.
Nyetimber Heritage
The Nyetimber estate, with its roots dating back almost 1,000 years, was first mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086. However, it wasn't until 1988, 902 years later, that the estate saw the planting of its first vines, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. This long and rich history is a testament to Nyetimber's commitment to quality and tradition.
Another huge milestone in the history was in 2006, Eric Heerema became the owner of Nyetimber, acquiring Head winemaker Cherie Spriggs and winemaker Brad Greatrix, they both shared a vision to create the best sparkling wines. Since then, they have achieved global acclaim for their wines, winning international awards and blind-tasting competitions, as well as being recognised as some of the best wine by experienced experts.
