Perrin Wine

The Domaine Perrin is a brand created in 1997 by Francois Perrin and his brother Jean-Pierre, Pierre’s father and has been run by Pierre since 1999. As with the wines at Beaucastel, the Perrin wines are masterfully made and reflect the true nature of the terroir from which they come. Occupying the region’s best terroirs, their reputation has given them a worldwide reputation for excellence with a strong commitment to well-proven methods and a deep belief in capturing the true essence of the region. Nature and tradition are key to the Perrin brand; this approach has continued seamlessly over five generations.

Perrin Types of Wine

Famille Perrin has not only a wide selection of wines but a wide selection of wineries such as Chateau de Beaucastel, Miraval and La Vieille Ferme, offering a wide range of classic reds, rosé and white wines. One example of the great wines they have to offer is Famille Perrin Rhone, a dry red with an aromatic strawberry and white pepper nose meeting blueberries and ripe cherries on the palate, described by critics as deliciously scented yet firm and serious on the palate.

La Vieille Ferme is a winery that creates wine that is also known as 'the chicken wine' due to the logo used on the product bottles. The wine is known as one of the best-value wines from France, with the rosé being one of the most popular. It is a balanced wine of richness, power, and good concentration whilst still retaining a beautiful freshness.

Perrin Heritage

Being one of the most reliable wine families in the Rhone Valley, the Perrin family has cultivated their love for wine for multiple generations. Beginning in 1909, Pierre Tramier acquired the estate of Chateau de Beaucastel. Therefore, his son-in-law, Pierre Perrin, followed by his son Jacques Perrin, developed Beaucastel and its vineyard. Common values are part of the philosophy, such as respect for terroir and soils, biodynamics, and the pursuit of precision, balance and elegance.

Respect for terroir has always been a part of the Famille Perrin way, with the family taking the best expression to respect the soil. In the 1950s, they innovated by organically cultivating their vineyards, and in 1974, they converted Chateau de Beaucastel to biodynamic practices.

Whilst having a rich history, the Perrin family are thriving in modern days with a partnership with Brad Pitt at Miraval to being elected man of the year in 2014 by one of the most influential wine magazines in Europe – Decanter Magazine. The family also invests in promoting its region, helping with restaurants and hotels in the village of Gigondas. The family is the only French non-Bordeaux win to be disturbed on the Place De Bordeaux alongside the 1st Crus Classes.
