Torbreck Types of Wine

Torbreck Vintners was created with the purpose of building one of the best wine estates in the world; they have the vision to pay respect to the vineyards of the Barossa Valley by creating incredible-tasting wine. Here, we will look at some of the best wines that Torbreck has to offer.

One of the most popular and influential wines in the Torbreck collection is “The Laird” In Scottish terminology, 'The Laird' refers to the Lord of the Manor. The hand-tended, small, concentrated berries result in a powerful and luxurious wine with a dense, complex and alluring palette that can be cellared for decades. The Laird vineyard effortlessly showcases the longevity of Barossa Shiraz.

A wine that is very much the heart and soul of Torbreck, The Steading is a wine that exemplifies the philosophies and beliefs well. Sourced from Grenache, Mataro, and Shiraz vines, the wine is a collection of 45 different sources of fruit, with some from their own vineyard estates and some from growers on a share-farming basis.

Torbreck Heritage

Established in 1994 and located on the western ridge of the Barossa Valley. A former lumberjack named David Powell had worked in various vineyards to hone his skills and decided to found Torbreck.

Torbreck's first releases were around the late 1990s and were greeted by great responses from critics and connoisseurs alike. With the overwhelming majority of the vines home-grown, nearly all are 100-165 years old and are tended and harvested by hand, helping them create wines with an extraordinary combination of power, intensity, complexity and finesse.

Whilst being based in Australia, there is a European sense of tradition, with Torbreck paying tribute to vineyards with minimal intervention, creating wines of richness.

Being a relatively new adventure for Torbreck as the company has only been producing for around 25 years, they know that the craft will only get better and better. With the journey far from complete, they remind themselves that the best is yet to come, showing the true commitment and passion the team has to creating the best product they can.
