Trimbach Wine

Established in 1626, the House of Trimbach is now being run by the 13th generation of the family. The style is paraphrased by Hubert Trimbach and the family itself – “Concentrated not heavy; fruity, not sweet; bracing rather than fat; polite rather than voluptuous”. This quote perfectly sums up the delicacy that Trimbach has when they create their product. With a huge emphasis on balance, the team at Trimbach are full of wine and vineyard enthusiasts who work extremely hard to make the best wine they can offer.

Trimbach Types of Wine

Described to have a ‘Protestant style’, Trimbach wines are reserved, elegant, steely and never obvious or flashy. They have firmness, vigour and freshness. The Alsace wines are classified into 5 ranges of wines with different specificities and qualities specific to them, with the ranges spanning from classic wines to Vendanges Tardives & Selection de Grains Nobles. From well-known classics like Pinot Blanc to specialist wines such as Gewurztraminer Vendanges Tardives, which require the perfect conditions such as grapes being pressed and harvested by hand in pneumatic presses.

Trimbach offers gracefully sophisticated and refreshing wines; one wine that perfectly fits that description is Trimbach Riesling. This Riesling is super-dry and crisp, the perfect option for a palate fresher.

For something slightly different, the Pinot Noir Reserve develops aromas of red fruits, combining suppleness and freshness on the palate, perfect for pairing with smoked meats and poultry.

Trimbach Heritage

Dating all the way back to 1626, countless generations have become devoted to the passion of Alsace wines, constantly distinguishing themselves by the quality and authenticity of their wines; here we will look back at some of the most important moments in the rich Trimbach history.

In the 16th century, the first Trimbachs arrived from Switzerland to work in silver mines. Jean Trimbach arrived from the Ste-Marie-aux-Mines and became a winegrower and winemaker, beginning the legacy of Trimbach wines. The birth of Jean-Frederic Trimbach takes a prominent place in viticulture in Alsace, and he contributed to the influence of excellent wines from the unique terroir of the Ribeauville.

In 1839, Frederic Emile Trimbach was born; his name still resonates today as he marked the world of viticulture in Alsace, was a fine wine taster and also a huge visionary. After relocating to the estate of Hunawir in 1840, the Trimbachs then moved again 80 years later in 1920 back to Ribeauville, where they are still located today.

Pierre Trimbach joined the house in 1979, following the footsteps of his father, Bernard. Pierre is part of the 12th generation and is the current technical director, with the 13th generation making steps into the house, such as Julien, who is slowly taking over the technical part of the estate.
