Description
A vibrant Cremant from producer Leon Beyer, located in the medieval Alsatian village of Eguisheim, France. Made from both Pinot Blanc and Auxerrois grapes, this is a great example of sparkling Cremant d’Alsace being produced from the region, with great flavours and texture.
TASTING NOTE: A golden straw colour with soft bubbles. On the nose: Lively and fresh, with some floral and ripe fruit notes of pineapple, peach, and lemon curd, plus a soft aroma of honey cake. On the plate: Lighter-bodied with vibrant fruity flavours of lemon and pink grapefruit, white flowers, and juicy green apples. There is a silky-textured mousse along with medium but refreshing acidity, a hint of pastry and a tiny touch of sweetness on the finish.12% alcohol by volume.
FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: We would suggest that this is best enjoyed with a baked brie and apricot chutney or with a seared heritage pork chop with apple puree. Also, with its fruitiness, a vegetable curry with just a touch of heat would be a great accompaniment to this wine. If you choose not to have food, this is excellent as an aperitif as well. It’s ready to drink now and will continue to drink wonderfully till the end of 2025.
ABOUT: The Beyer family have been winegrowers in the medieval Alsatian village of Eguisheim, in the cradle of the Alsace wine-producing region, since 1580. In 1867, Emile Beyer founded the commercial side of the business. Today the estate known as Leon Beyer is actually run by Marc Beyer, and the family have 23 hectares of wines (57 acres) but also buys grapes from other growers in the area. They have holdings in the Grand Crus of Eichberg and Pfersigberg amongst other excellent sites and make a huge array of styles.
