Description
Produced from vines planted on the eastern and western halves of the vineyard in the Dry Creek Valley, this is a delicious blend of 79% Zinfandel, 11% Petite Sirah, and 10% Carignan. It’s an elegant, fragrant, and bright wine with plenty of rich black cherry and blackberry, a balanced structure, and a hint of vanilla and spice too, from the 13 months in American oak barrels. For a Californian wine, it is fairly light in body, but has great length, with firm tannins that will ensure the wine ages for the next 10 years. 14.5% ABV
Ridge Vineyards based in the Santa Cruz mountains (South of San Fransisco) was established in 1962. Paul Draper took up the role of winemaker in 1969 and is still involved in making wines at the winery to this day. Ridge, like other California estates received almost instant praise in the world of wine after California performed so well in the 1976 Judgement of Paris tasting – beating some of France’s most revered wines.
