Description
From one of the best locations in Tuscany, Isole e Olena is a prime example of Chianti Classico, made by Paolo de Marchi and team using 90% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo, and 5% other red grape varieties. It’s something to enjoy and cherish.
TASTING NOTE: Ruby colour in the glass. On the nose: Lovely cherry and herb perfume from the Sangiovese grape, with a hint of spiciness from Syrah too. On the palate: Medium to full in body with medium to high acidity. This is a well-structured wine with plenty of fruit flavours such as tart red cherry, and plum with soft hints of warm cinnamon and clove and a smokey note on the back, all followed by a silky richness with firm, supporting tannins rounding the finish. 14.5% alcohol.
FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: This has plenty of bright acidity and juicy red fruit which matches with gamier meats, like a roast leg of lamb with a rosemary and garlic rub or try with creamy vegetable soup or vegetarian lasagne. Enjoy now or can be kept until end of 2028 at least.
ABOUT: From the heart of the Chianti Classico zone of Tuscany, Isole e Olena is located in one of Tuscany’s most beautiful spots. The two estates of Isole and Olena were unified in the 1950s when they were bought by the de Marchi family from Piedmont. They’re two historic wine-producing communes, with records for Olena reaching back into the 12th century. Paolo de Marchi took the helm in 1976 and swiftly established the estate as one of the most dynamic and exciting in all of Italy.
