Description
This Chianti Classico is made from 88% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo, and 2% Colorino it shows with a beautiful ruby red colour in the glass. The nose is expressive with ripe red fruits like cherry, raspberry, and a hint of leather, nutmeg, and clove from the barrel ageing. The palate has fresh acidity followed by plenty of plush red and blackberry fruit flavours. The tannins are ripe and smooth in texture giving a very juicy feel to the wine, which is extremely easy to drink and enjoy, helped by moderate alcohol of 13.5%. Enjoy this wine alongside gamier meats such as lamb or a vegetarian Lasagne. Drink now or cellar until the end of 2026.
The estate of Rocca di Montegrossi was established around the 7th and 8th century AD by Geremia, the ancestor of the Ricasoli-Firidolfi family. It’s located near the village of Monti in Chianti Classico (about 7km south of the larger Gaiole in Chianti). This same family owns the estate now, with Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi in charge of the 20 hectares of vines, 20 hectares of olive groves plus a beautiful section of woodland that lines the rolling Tuscan hills near the winery. The vineyards and olive groves are all farmed organically.
