Alcohol-free dry White, Languedoc, France

Description

A peachy, non-alcoholic Chardonnay from the volcanic soils of the Picpoul area of France’s Languedoc, on the Mediterranean coast. The wine happens to be 0% in alcohol due to its fermentation using different yeasts than for wine usually. A fresh, flavourful style results, which makes an excellent alternative for those not drinking alcohol. It would work well for a Sunday roast, an aperitif or party wine, and is brilliant with creamy pastas and risottos too.

TASTING NOTE: Light gold/yellow in colour. It’s very refreshing in style, a non-alcoholic Chardonnay with vibrant aromas of white peach, exotic pineapple and citrus, and subtle hints of vanilla. It’s fragrant and fresh on the nose, and medium in body on the palate, with plenty of fruity, peach and apricot flavour. While it’s 0% in alcohol, it has nice weight and balance, and a medium to long, crisp, dry finish.

FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: With its fresh, fruity, peachy flavour this wine is extremely easy to drink, and would work well at a party or as an aperitif. But, it has enough weight to serve alongside roast chicken or fish with a butter sauce. Also good with pork, or creamy pastas and risottos. Like Chablis or white Burgundy, it’s a versatile Chardonnay that is a good allrounder, just 0% in alcohol. Best served chilled down to around 6 or 7 degrees. Drink now or keep throughout 2026.

ABOUT: Villa Noria was founded by two wine lover, Fabien Gross and Cédric Arnaud, who grew up in the wine regions of Languedoc and Alsace respectively. Villa Noria is situated in the Picpoul area of Languedoc, close to the coast, just south of Montpellier. The winemaking is traditional, without chemical additions and low doses of sulphur, and the wines are certified Organic, including this lovely non-alcoholic Chardonnay. The grapes for Levin 0% come from a single vineyard, Les Colombiers, which is located at the bottom of a volcanic hillside. This volcanic terroir has basaltic soils, which is formed from cooled, hardened, and weathered lava, containing high proportion of iron that imparts the wine with distinctive minerality. The Mediterranean climate, with its warm, dry summers and relatively mild winters offers excellent conditions in which the Chardonnay vines flourish. The grape juice was fermented with bacteria and yeast strains that produced no alcohol, resulting in a flavourful wine with 0% alcohol and fresh, fruity flavour.
