Travel through a fine wine region or style each month with these half bottles, by producers who have forged the vinous way to our hearts. Delicious wines, often made in relatively limited quantities, that really show what the particular region or style is about. The wines can be white, red or a mix depending on the region. Electronic tasting notes, a blog and online tasting/introduction to the case (a mix of live and recorded tastings) are included, all hosted by our Director and Master of Wine, Vicki. 

JUNE SELECTION: Fine Sherries

This month we actually have FIVE not four fine wines for you, due to the phenomenal value from Jerez, in Southern Spain, where these wonderful dry (and one dessert) sherries are made. These are delicious wines that are a far cry from the supermarket bottom-shelf offering!

Firstly, we have a comparison of pale, dry sherries in the form of Valdespino’s ‘Deliciosa’ Manzanilla, aged on the coast in Sanlucar de Barrameda, and Tio Pepe’s benchmark Fino. They are moreish, dry, refreshing wines that are perfect to have as aperitif, to add style to a summer meal, or pair with savoury tapas dishes. Next, two long-aged sherries by Williams and Humbert, their 15 year old Amontillado and Oloroso. Again these are dry but have impressive complexity and depth from many years in barrel. Finally, we have a decadent, rich, smooth-textured Pedro Ximenez, a wonderful dessert wine, that also works well as a digestif. Pour it over ice cream for the most luxurious but easy of desserts!
