Description
Travel through a fine wine region or style each month with these half bottles, by producers who have forged the vinous way to our hearts. Delicious wines, often made in relatively limited quantities, that really show what the particular region or style is about. The wines can be white, red or a mix depending on the region. Electronic tasting notes and guided, online tastings (a mix of live and recorded tastings) are included, all hosted by our Director and Master of Wine, Vicki. This month’s online tasting is Thursday 14th May at 8pm.
MAY SELECTION: Loire Valley
Firstly, we have a lovely red (the only red in this month’s case) which is a fragrant Cabernet Franc from the Saint Nicolas de Bourgeuil appellation, made by Estelle Cognard and her son Flavien. It’s midweight, with delicious black fruits and a hint of black pepper, that is often found in the best reds from this region. We then have a comparison of the two finest Loire areas of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume, with Henri Bourgeois’ refreshing, flavoursome Sancerre and Katia Mauroy’s herb and citrus scented Pouilly-Fume. They are both great wines, from classic Loire soils and the Sauvignon grape, and are exceedingly food-friendly too! Finally, the fruity, appley Vouvray from Marc Bredif. This is rounded and smooth, and a great match for pork and apple, or a spicy curry!
The online tasting is via zoom on Thursday 14th May at 8pm. Further details will be provided on purchase of the case.
