Travel through a fine wine region or style each month with these half bottles, by producers who have forged the vinous way to our hearts. Delicious wines, often made in relatively limited quantities, that really show what the particular region or style is about. The wines can be white, red or a mix depending on the region. Electronic tasting notes and guided, online tastings (a mix of live and recorded tastings) are included, all hosted by our Director and Master of Wine, Vicki. This month’s online tasting is this Thursday 16th April at 8pm. 

APRIL SELECTION: Bordeaux red grapes from around the world

First up, we have the newly released 2019 vintage from Chateau Musar in Lebanon. This is a cult classic made from Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as other French red grapes, barrel aged in French oak, and ready to drink with nearly 7 years of age. It’s delicious and complex, unlike any other in the wine world. Next, to a different continent for Miles Mossop’s truly fine ‘Max’ Bordeaux Blend, from Stellenbosch, which is a sprightly red for decanting and drinking with a good roast, or cellarable should you wish. Onto Australia for Moss Wood’s classic ‘Amy’s’ Bordeaux Blend, from Margaret River, and then to Argentina for an excellent Malbec by Finca Sophenia. The Altosur Malbec shows how good this Bordeaux grape can be when grown on the other side of the world, in the mountainous vineyards of Uco Valley; it’s also a great wine as the temperatures warm up and barbecue foods come into play!

The online tasting is via zoom on Thursday 16th April at 8pm. Further details will be provided on purchase of the case.
