Travel through a fine wine region in detail each month with these half bottles, by producers who have forged the vinous way to our hearts. Delicious wines, often made in relatively limited quantities, that really show what the particular region is about. The wines can be white, red or a mix depending on the region. Tasting notes and an optional, guided, online tasting hosted by our Director and Master of Wine, Vicki, will accompany this selection, bringing you the lowdown to the region and these great producers.
MAY SELECTION: TUSCANY & CENTRAL ITALY. We’re excited to have four very different, delectable wines from some of our most favourite producers of all time: Ampelio Bucci‘s lemon-scented white wine, the Organic Verdicchio Classico Superiore from Castelli di Jesi in the Marche, Central Italy. On the opposite coast from Castelli di Jesi, the Antinori family’s deep red Tuscan Il Bruciato, from their Bolgheri estate, Guado al Tasso. Then, compare Isole e Olena‘s much-loved Chianti Classico with Salcheto’s Vino Nobile di Montepluciano, to see what the famous Tuscan grape, Sangoviese, can really do. All four wines will really show why this area is so famous for great wine as well as why these producers are at the top of their game. The optional online tasting for this case is on Wednesday May 12th at 8pm; our Director Vicki will be taking us on a tour of Tuscany and Central Italy and Allegra Antinori, of Marchesi Antinori, will also be joining us to discuss why Il Bruciato is so good, and to give a history of Antinori in Tuscany and elsewhere in Italy. Electronic tasting notes with food matches will also be sent with the wines, and the tasting session is recorded and available for subscribers too.
