Travel through a fine wine region in detail each month with these half bottles, by producers who have forged the vinous way to our hearts. Delicious wines, often made in relatively limited quantities, that really show what the particular region is about. The wines can be white, red or a mix depending on the region. Tasting notes and an optional guided online tasting hosted by our Founder and Master of Wine, Vicki, will accompany this selection, bringing you the lowdown to the region and these great producers.
MARCH SELECTION: NORTHEAST ITALY. Explore the delicious wines of Northeast Italy with our four fine wine half bottles. Try Ca Rugate’s cherry-scented, moreish red from Valpolicella, and Masi’s famous Recioto, a speciality from the same region, a distinctive red wine with some sweetness that is such a good match with blue cheeses or fruit desserts. Discover one of Alto Adige’s star wines, the Cuvee Terlaner from Cantina Terlano, high up in the mountains close to the Austrian and Swiss border. Finally, for something entirely different, Ca dei Frati’s lovely white wine, Brolettino, in Lugana. This is made from local Italian variety Turbiana, which gives an aromatic, peachy aroma. All four fantastic half bottles are from producers at the top of their game; this case gets to the heart of what makes wines here so popular. The optional online tasting for this case is on Wednesday March 17th at 8pm, and electronic tasting notes will also be sent with the wines.
