Planeta Santa Cecilia Nero d’Avola 2022 BOTTLE (75cl)

On our recent trip to Sicily, this was one of the most impressive Nero d’Avola wines we tasted, by the well-known, large Planeta winery. Noto DOC is a wine region in the far SE corner of Sicily, Italy, within Syracuse province. It’s tiny, but makes great reds, and in this case cellarable ones too. Aged in French oak for 14 months. This wine is intense and complex, with notes of red cherries, raspberries, and a hint of spicy vanilla. An impressive, bold red that will drink now with decanting for 1-2 hours, or store up till 2030. 13% alcohol.
