Description
This Pinot Noir from Christian Collovray and Jean-Luc Terrier and families, from the Altugnac estate in Languedoc, isn’t quite as sophisticated as a Burgundian Pinot Noir but has all the juicy fruit and depth of flavour and is very easy to drink with low tannin. Yum!
TASTING NOTE: A beautiful, ruby colour in the glass. On the nose: The nose is fragrant with red berry fruits such as raspberry, cranberry, and strawberry with a hint of pepper and herb. On the palate: It has a medium body with a lovely balance of fruit flavours such as cherry and cranberry, a touch of spice from the time it spent in oak barrels, and fresh acidity. 13% alcohol by volume.
FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: With plenty of bright cherries and savoury herb notes in this wine, it’s a great match for dishes such as confit duck legs and/or a white bean cassoulet, or oven-roasted whole chicken coated in herbs and butter. It’s simple, juicy, and extremely easy to drink at any time. You could also chill the wine as the tannins are low, meaning a refreshing drink if the outside temperature is warm. No need to decant. Enjoy now until winter 2024.
ABOUT: Altugnac is an estate in Languedoc which is owned by the same team behind Domaine des Deux Roches in Burgundy. The two estates are owned by Christian Collovray and Jean-Luc Terrier and families, and friends who share a love of wine. They established Domaine des Deux Roches in 1987 before turning their attention to the Languedoc in the late 1990s. The property was already established with 45 hectares of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines in Limoux, a cooler part of Langedoc which suits these noble grapes.
