Description

We’re very pleased to have found this extremely crisp, dry Rose from Sancerre, in the Loire Valley. Sancerre Rose is made from the Pinot Noir grape and represents less than 10% of the total production of Sancerre, but, when you can find it, it’s delicious, partly if you like a very refreshing, elegant style of Rose.

TASTING NOTE:  The wine has a very attractive, pale, coral-pink colour. On the nose, it has a tantalising aroma of fresh strawberries, strawberries and cream, herbs such as rosemary and mint, plus some hints of watermelon and citrus. It’s medium in body, lovely and fresh and elegant in style, with the high acidity of Pinot Noir giving a really juicy character. It’s dry, very crisp with a pithy, thirst-quenching finish.

FOOD PAIRING, STORING AND SERVICE: The Dezat family point out that this is an extremely versatile wine, and match it with white meats, grilled and barbecue foods. We drink it with pan-fried white fish, with a crunchy green salad. It will also match with spicy foods too, or young cheeses. Drink now or keep till end 2026.

ABOUT: Arnaud and Stephanie Dezat make a range of lovely white, rose and red Sancerre. You may know that their father Andre Dezat made popular wines that were widely shipped from France to the UK; eventually the estate passed to his children, and then grandchildren who split the estate into two, of which Arnaud and Stephanie Dezat own one.
