Description
This rich and full wine from the Saint Estephe area of Bordeaux, made by Bordeaux superstars Chateau Calon-Segur, is a blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot grapes. It’s a delicious Bordeaux and a very food-friendly style at a relatively good price, with lovely fine tannins and juicy fruit to accompany a meal.
TASTING NOTE: The nose is expressive with black currant, cherry and blackberry. The palate is classic Saint Estephe with silky tannins, minerality and great concentrated fruit characters just like the nose, with a long meaty finish. 14% ABV.
FOOD PAIRING, SERVICE, STORAGE: Enjoy now but can be cellared until 2027. Enjoy this with aged, grilled steak with sauteed green vegetables and dauphinoise potatoes, a classic.
ABOUT: Chateau Capbern in the Saint Estephe region of Bordeaux, dates back to 1894 when it was under the ownership of the Gasqueton family. It’s now part of the renowned Calon-Segur stable, and benefits from much of the same attention to detail and winemaking skill as this lauded Chateau, but at a much friendlier price!
