Description
For smooth, intensely flavoursome and generous reds, look no further than the McLaren Vale! This Estate Shiraz from Coriole’s 50 year-old vineyards is laden with blackberry, chocolate, plum and cherry notes. It’s full-bodied with supple, juicy tannins and lovely berry fruit flavours. Fermentation is carried out in open-top tanks, very traditionally with plunging by hand of the grape skins deep into the juice to encourage the precious Shiraz flavours. Once fully fermented, it was then aged in French oak barrels for around a year, giving a delicious toasty note on the palate too! 14.5% alcohol.
McLaren Vale is in South Australia, just below Adelaide on the map. The Lloyd family established their winery here in 1969, on the predominantly ‘terra rossa’ soils; these tend to produce deep-coloured, well-structured red wines with great capacity for ageing. Coriole have farmed organically for many years and have now taken the decision to certify their vineyards as officially Organic. Good news for them, and for their clients as they spend more and more time in the vineyards, growing great grapes and making great wine!
