Description

A Cotes du Rhone with a difference! This wine is slightly unusual in that it has a lot of the Syrah grape variety (rather than the more common Grenache of Cotes du Rhone) in this wine. Close your eyes and you might think this is actually a Crozes Hermitage instead, partly because of the blackberry, spice and black pepper character of Syrah, and partly because it’s so good!

Delas are a large producer of Rhone wines, made by winemaker Claire Darnaud-McKerrow. In the early 90s the business and vineyards were purchased by Frederic Rouzaud who also owns Champagne Louis Roederer. As you might expect, given considerable investment, the wines are tiptop and in plentiful supply, both of which keep a wine buyer happy! This far outweighs its humble price tag with lots of fruit, fine tannins, and firm structure for matching a juicy steak or black pepper tofu dish. 14.5% ABV.
